Cerebral Palsy is No Hurdle for Jack

When Boulder Creek High School senior Jack Florez was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as an infant, his doctors told his mother that he wouldn’t be able to walk — and even if he did, it would be with a walker.

Today, the 17-year-old is a competitive cross country runner with five years of experience under his belt.

As Jack has overcome many hurdles in his life with support from family, friends, mentors and therapists, he wants to inspire others with disabilities.

“I’ve never let anything anybody tells me prevent me from doing something. I’ve always tried to do what I can within my limits,” Jack said.

“Don’t let yourself or other people stop what you’re trying to do. You can live a normal life with cerebral palsy or whatever disability you might have.”
